In Saint-Germain-d'Esteuil, Château Castera is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. Montaigne annotated part of his Essays there in the 1839th century, but it was not until XNUMX that the Château, in the sense of a wine estate, saw the light of day. It now belongs to Dieter Tondera who watches over the vineyard with a whole team of professionals.
Next to the imposing stone building, admire the chapel surrounded by secular oaks and cedars, witnesses of so many events. Then follow in the vineyards Philippe Grynfeltt, the technical director who, depending on the season, explains the size of the vineyard or the progress of the harvest. Accompany him in the cellar where, in the middle of a forest of oak barrels, he extracts a few drops of the precious beverage whose production secrets he reveals to you. Then savor a few vintages of this Médoc Cru Bourgeois.
