The start

From the Castets-et-Castillon parking area, leave the canal behind you to get back on the road. Turn right and at the crossroads, take the alley in front of you. Around the bend, enjoy the breathtaking view of the Garonne and the canal. Keep going up.

Hamel Castle

Turn right, pass in front of the church and stay on the right. On your left is the monument to the dead, recognizable thanks to the soldier who stands on the upper part. If you look up, you can see the magnificent Chateau Du Hamel. Take the one-way street on your right.

Lock 52

Once on the road, turn right for about 100m to join the greenway. You have just passed lock 53, which connects the canal and the river. Continue your walk along the canal, past lock 52 and the restaurant of the same name.

Cross the canal on the lock 51 bridge. Walk 1km250 on the road and in the bend, take the track in front of you and which runs along cornfields.

Edge of the Garonne

Take the first path on your left. It will take you to the banks of the Garonne. Turn right, the river is on your left. At the 6th kilometer, you leave the path to return to the road which is on your right. At the roundabout in the town of Barie, turn right.

Back to channel

Walk about 950m and turn right. 300m further on, take the path on your left. At the end of the latter, turn right and about ten meters further, turn left. Walk 150m and turn left to find the canal.

Checkin

Do not cross the bridge. Return to Castets on the right along the canal. Cross the canal again at lock 51, at the same place as when you started the hike. Turn right to find the car park and end your pleasant walk.
