From the former Domaine de Pachan, an agricultural and wine-growing property located on the banks of the Garonne, there remain the vat buildings and stables that make up the current headquarters of the Fédération des chasseurs de Gironde. If the estate was established on the island whose name it still bears, it is now an integral part of the palus lands of the commune. In 2004, following the abandonment of the last crops on the estate, this area was classified as a hunting and wildlife reserve. Large bodies of water are developed to provide birds with an ideal environment for nesting: throughout the year, we can observe the incessant ballet of hundreds of species of birds that come to rest there. In addition to the ornithological interest, you can explore the area by appointment with the help of a guide-animator: an essential discovery for understanding the unique environment of the wetlands.
