The Ducal Castle of Cadillac unveils dozens of works for a royal exhibition on Henri IV. No need to go to Versailles to admire the works since this time, they are the ones coming to you.

For its 7th partnership with the Palace of Versailles, the Center des Monuments Historiques is rolling out the red carpet for us. The “Henry IV, a King in History” exhibition, which includes some fifty works, will be unveiled before your amazed eyes until September 29… Oils on wood from the XNUMXth century, sculptures, engravings, works of art … And that's not all ! You will have the chance to discover some works that were until now hidden from the public eye, specially restored for the occasion.

Built from 1599, the Ducal castle housed the renowned Duke of Epernon, who was in the service of Henri III, Henri IV, Louis XIII and Marie de Médicis. The symbolism of this place and of the duke does not stop there for the “good king Henri”. Indeed, the Duke of Epernon has, over the years, become a friend of the king, keeping him company during games and hunting parties. On May 14, 1610, Henri IV was assassinated by François Ravaillac, a Catholic fanatic. That day, the Duc d'Epernon was in the king's carriage. Here is a strong link, which can help you better understand the importance of the place in which this exhibition is held...

And because we know that for history buffs as well as for the curious, the smallest detail counts, we are sure that the themes of this culture break will suit you perfectly! The first part will transport you to the heart of the king's life: his youth, his first steps at court, the role he played during the Wars of Religion and his reign. The second part will be like the imperishable memory of the first of the Bourbons: benefactress and peaceful...

We won't tell you more, for the rest, you will have to push the doors of the Ducal castle, to melt into the atmosphere of this century with its many twists and turns...
