From Bordeaux, head east to discover the landscapes and vineyards of Entre-Deux-Mers via a cycle path, partly along the Garonne, to Latresne, then by the beautiful Roger cycle path Lapébie (47 km), so named in memory of the winner of the Tour de France 1937.
Well laid out, this route between vineyards, forests and bastides has several reception points in the old stations of this old railway line. Arrival planned in Créon, a town organized around its central square with arcades, originating from an old fortified bastide.

Start date
Meet on the quays, in front of the Place de la Bourse. Take the direction of the Pierre Bridge which you cross by the track on the right. Turn right at the foot of the bridge and walk along the quay. For a few hundred meters, take a cycle lane, being careful of traffic. After the Saint-Jean bridge, you find yourself on a wide and protected track between the road and the edge of the Garonne. Go straight.

After passing under the motorway bridge (Km 5,7), you walk along, at a place called "the waterfront", a succession of superb properties facing the river, in a beautiful green setting.

Step 3
The track turns to the left before arriving at a roundabout that you cross to take opposite for about 500m. Turn right on the track on its own, direction Latresne, starting point of the "Roger Lapébie" track, named after the famous Gironde cyclist, winner of the Tour de France 1937.

You quickly arrive at Latresne station (km 10,5). There is a café-restaurant in the station, where you can collect all the information about your trip.

Continue on the track between the forests of the Bordeaux hills and the first vines .; You pass Cénac and its station transformed into a stopover and group lodge. Without leaving this wooded and hilly landscape, you arrive at Ligna-de-Bordeaux where you will find the Bistrot de la Pimpine located in the old station (km 17,5).

A little further on, take the time to stop at Sadirac (Km 20) where the station has been transformed into a place of exhibition and environmental awareness. The Maison du patrimoine naturel du Créonnais invites you to discover the secrets of the Pimpine valley that you follow from Latresne.

You soon arrive in Créon, a medieval bastide founded in 1316, which has kept its place and its cutlery.

You continue your journey to the town of La Sauve (km 29,5); Do not forget to leave the track to visit, in the village, the abbey of Sauve-Majeure. A little after La Sauve, you go through a tunnel. This serves as a theater every year in September, for the great shout competition organized as part of the "Open the Voice" festival, a cultural event dedicated to amplified music and the cycle path.

You then arrive at Espiet (Km 33) where the station, converted into a restaurant, is part of an intimate and rural setting typical of the Entre-deux-Mers landscapes.

Through vineyards, meadows and woods, you then drive towards Frontenac (Km 45). Part of Bordeaux was built with stones from its quarries. Do not miss, nearby, to visit the hospital commandery of Sallebruneau and its medieval garden.

Cross the Engranne before heading towards Saint-Brice (Km 52) where you cross two busy departmental roads.

You finally arrive at Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, the end of your journey (km 57,5). Do not miss to visit the bastide founded in 1281 which has preserved its medieval doors. You have reached the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers vineyards; know how to take the opportunity to discover local products ... in moderation.

La Sauve-Majeure abbey
You will discover the majestic ruins of the abbey and its Romanesque abbey church. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in 1998, this abbey was founded in 1079 in the heart of a vast forest ("Silva Major") by Saint-Gérard de Corbie. A powerful land lordship, it controlled many priories in Spain and England. Superb view of the Entre-Deux Mers from the top of the XNUMXth century bell tower.
