The 250 ha of lakes in the domain of Hostens have their origins in the excavations of this former open pit mine. The site, owned by the Departmental Council of Gironde, has been the subject of a major development program linked to the discovery of nature and relaxation. It offers a multitude of leisure and outdoor activities. Your exploration will lead you, following marked paths, from a marsh to a pond, from modest bodies of water to vast lakes.

The start

When you are opposite the Tourist Office, turn left for 100m, then left again. Follow the path for nearly 1km600 before turning right. Walk 100m before arriving at a crossroads. Continue straight on the main path. Continue in this direction for 900m, in the middle of the estate's lakes. You walked 3km.

When you arrive near a small car park, turn left for about 100m, then left again. And 500m further, on the right! Ignore the small paths on your right (unless you want to do trial mountain biking, follow the markings) and continue on the path for 700m before turning right. A little further on, turn left. Always walk straight for 750m, ignoring the paths on your right. You walked 5km.

You arrive at a crossroads with several paths and a small road. Cross the road between the two rocks and enter the forest in front of you. Continue on this path for 500m before turning right. Proceed to the next crossroads and turn left. Walk 400m before taking a hairpin path to the right. Stay on the path, it's still straight for 800m. You walked 7km!

At the intersection, turn right for 400m, then, at a new crossroads, straight ahead. Again, after 400m, take the small path on your left then straight on for 100m. Finally, turn right to reach the tourist office!
