Meeting with Marie, Gironde singer who talks to us about her home, about us what 🙂 . A soulful voice on a background of guitar, a summer evening, while the sun is reddening… Open your ears wide!
- Hello Mary, can you introduce yourself?
So I'm a singer, originally from Bordeaux, and a few years ago I created the reggae group Alam. With the musicians, who are really an integral part of the project, we compose, we put my lyrics to music, and it's going to be working for 11 years this year! Some of them have been there since the beginning of the adventure, it's great. We do a lot of reggae, but also soul and hip-hop.
- Current projects?
At the moment, I'm investing a lot in a more pop-oriented project. With my companion Antoine, we set up the DOTM group. Our last song, “Joy”, is very sweet. We shot magnificent images for the clip, against a backdrop of the sunset… And the good surprise is that the programmer of 107.7 had a crush on the song, so we will be broadcast all summer on this radio, alongside well-known songs!
- How did the idea of starting this band come about?
We are very inspired by our environment. We've had a house in the Médoc in the middle of the forest for 5 years, with a room specially set up for music, so it's great. Our songs take up what we live on a daily basis: our life by the ocean, our children, nature... Our duet works well, I bring the melody, and my companion, Antoine, the instrument...
- Can we say that the Gironde inspires you?
Yes, without a doubt! At home, between the trees and the ocean, I love riding my bike, composing in my garden… It's the place that helps me the most in my compositions. We are really spoiled here!
- Bars/events where you can hear good music in the summer?
The Relache festival is really good, we did it with Alam in front of 3000 people at the Flèche Saint-Michel, there was a great atmosphere! I also really like the Festival Salut à Vous, in Jau-Dignac. And then the Reggae Sun Ska of course, where we had the chance to play several times. For bars, I recommend the Quartier Libre in Bordeaux, the Ardilla Café in Hourtin, and the Happy Rock in Carcans Plage, they do a lot of concerts, with small aperitifs on the terrace… The good life!
