Visit to the Arros battery
With a specialized guide from the archaeological group, discover the history of this pre-war French battery taken by the Germans in June 1940, then transformed into one of the most important batteries of the Atlantic Wall in the sector of the Pointe de Grave, before being liberated in April 1945.
Preserved from marine erosion, this site is a particularly rich and complete example of a coastal battery. The numerous structures visited will be an opportunity to discover their functions, their layouts and what their interior equipment was.
This visit is also an opportunity to discover this extraordinary line of defense, called “Atlantikwall” by the Germans and made up of bunkers, casemates and other structures with standardized plans, but also to understand why, when, how and by whom it was created. designed and produced.
