The salty meadows nature reserve of Arès-Lège

Located to the north of the Bassin d'Arcachon, the salt meadows nature reserve is the largest area of salt meadows in Aquitaine (200 hectares). The existence of a continuity of natural environments from the sea to the forest (mudflats, salt meadows, dune rim, wooded dune, forest) gives this site an exceptional value in the Arcachon Basin. The wild character of the site contrasts with the more or less urbanized coastline or with the dammed sectors of the Bassin d'Arcachon where nature has been mastered.
Each season, the reserve offers visitors different landscapes. The evolution of the colors of the vegetation, the play of lights specific to the coastal skies, the animation offered by a fauna which changes with the seasons, make it a unique space of discovery. Guided tours possible.
