The Ciron gallery forest

By "gallery forest", we mean this vegetation made up of oaks, pines and trees of all other species which border the Ciron, thus protecting it from the rays of the sun during the summer.
This "gallery forest" is very influential since it allows the stream to keep water cooler than that of the Garonne.
This difference in temperature between the two rivers thus generates the frequent morning fogs that invade the region, and offers botrytis cinerea the ideal conditions for its development. The "gallery forest" is therefore at the very beginning of the production chain of the famous Sauternes wines.
