Ce vast territory of 2150 ha, which presents all the landscapes of the sandy Aquitaine coast (beaches, dunes, forest of pines and holm oaks, marshes and lake) is managed by the National Office of Forests whose personnel ensure the surveillance, the scientific monitoring and public reception.

You can discover this site from the various pedestrian, equestrian or cycle routes starting from Contaut, Piqueyrot and Hourtin plage. Note: the Contaut lagoon educational trail crosses the marsh on a superb wooden platform (motor and visual handicap accessible).
