Ocean side beaches
With more than 130 kilometers of Atlantic coastline and fine sand, the Gironde offers you a wide choice of beaches to plant your parasol. Stroll in the Médoc on the olive beach and admire the breathtaking view of the Cordouan lighthouse or enjoy the Porge beach. For wave lovers, the must-see spot is Plage du Crohot, on the ocean side. And if you don't like the waves, change gear, head for them. Hourtin-Carcans and Lacanau lakes for more peace. This is an opportunity to test nautical activities.
The beaches of the Bassin d'Arcachon
On the Basin side, there is no shortage of spots: Cap Ferret, Arès, Andernos, Arcachon, La Hume, Le Pyla… you are spoiled for choice. If you are looking for a touch of originality, we recommend Audenge and its huge open-air seawater swimming pool. The beach at the foot of the Dune of Pilat, opposite the Banc d'Arguin, is also worth the detour. In season, before coming to the dune, remember to consult the live attendance of the car park and to favor transportation like cycling (The Great Site of the Dune du Pilat is on the route of La Vélodyssée) or the bus (with the direct DUNE EXPRESS line, from Arcachon station).

Bathing places throughout the Gironde
When you move away from the coast, several spots are available to you for a well-deserved moment of freshness. At the heart of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park, opt for the domain of Hostens or further north, in Entre-deux-Mers, for the Blasimon leisure area. Swimming and nautical activities will delight young and old. In these places conducive to relaxation, stroll along the shores of the lakes, soak your feet and why not test your navigation skills in canoe-kayak, pedal boats... And if you feel lucky, cast your fishing rod!
