Discover our cycling trip from Bordeaux to Biarritz, along the Atlantic coast, following La Vélodyssée. Ride at your own pace and set off to discover nature, heritage and cultures in Gironde, the Landes or the Basque Country! By choosing this circuit you will travel La Vélodyssée which is the longest cycle route in France (1300km) and in Europe!
Bordeaux, a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the starting point for your cycling trip. You will leave the city via the famous quays of the Garonne and continue your circuit between lakes and ocean. During your journey, you can either go around the Arcachon Bay by spending a night in Andernos, or cross it by boat. You will have the opportunity to discover the famous fishermen's huts of the basin. During your journey you can also climb (on foot) to the top of the Dune du Pilât, then you will enter the Landes department, known for its vast beaches and its numerous surf spots. As you approach Capbreton you will mark your gradual entry into the Basque Country. You will explore Bayonne, its historic center and its narrow medieval streets before ending your stay by the sea in Biarritz! This southern section of the Vélodyssée from Bordeaux to Biarritz is undoubtedly one of the richest, both culturally and naturally.
During this circuit you can swim on the many fine sandy beaches along the coast or in the large lakes further inland. Take advantage of the towns that will be on your route to appreciate the warm welcome of the locals and taste the many culinary specialties of the area. Every evening you will be accommodated in 2, 3 or 4* hotels.
