Created in 1998 by Jean-Louis Lapeyre, much more than a museum, it is a treasure cabin! A true memory of our Gascon heritage and the trades of yesteryear used by those here who made a living from farming oysters and harvesting resin from pine trees: the oyster farmers and the gemmers. It is Alain, guardian of memory, who welcomes you to the Old Port of Taussat-les-Bains and tells you their stories. “Escouarte”, “barcuts”, “vareuse”, “benaise” or even “mastouns” are words that will no longer hold any secrets for you!
