River trip on the Dordogne – Espérance river

fluvial

Until the All Saints holidays, Patrice Roy welcomes you aboard the “Estuarien” for a peaceful 1h30 ride on the Dordogne – Rivière Espérance between the ports of Branne and Saint-Jean-de-Blaignac.

Carrelet sur la DordogneSailing in a small group (12 people) and the rather discreet engine of the boat (a former oyster flat) will allow you to observe in silence (or almost!) the ballet of birds (egrets, herons, cormorants...) and to enjoy the natural tranquility of the place, classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. An enchanting setting punctuated by pretty mansions, (private) castles, Romanesque churches and old XNUMXth century wine cellars. Without forgetting the squares, these fishermen's huts "feet in the water", with nets overhanging the banks, as if in weightlessness.

Thanks to Captain Patrice, you will learn a little more about the Espérance River, whose waters are home to many migratory fish (salmon, shad, lamprey, sturgeon, etc.) and which for centuries experienced intense river activity with the passage of barges, these shallow-draft boats intended for the transport of goods (wine, oak staves for the cooperage, spices, cereals, coal, etc.) between the Massif Central and the Gironde Estuary.

Balade sur la Dordogne

A very pleasant moment to share with family or friends.
most ? Possibility of privatizing the boat (and its captain) for an outing just between you (180 €). Ideal for an aperitif…over the water!
The least ? No longer want to return to solid ground.

The Estuarien is moored at the Branne pontoon.
If you are coming from Saint-Emilion, turn left after the Branne bridge to reach the pontoon.
