Pedestrian loop: Between valleys and hillsides – UNESCO landscapes

From the Tourist Office, go down rue du Clocher on your left.

Opposite the pharmacy, turn right up the street, rue de la porte Brunet. Pass in front of the Cloître des Cordeliers and continue straight on to Porte Brunet, where you will have a magnificent view of the Dordogne valley. Turn right into the impasse du Ch. La Clotte and go down to the bottom of the grassy path ("chemin de Fongaban").

At the bottom of the path, go around Ch. Petit Gravet from the back on the left. The dirt road continues on a paved road that you take to Chemin de Pavie Macquin. At the sign, follow the path to the right, which winds up the hill.

At the entrance to the castle, turn right (yellow-green beacon). A magnificent view of the medieval city awaits you. Walk along the trees and follow the markings to the large oak tree (the furthest to the left). Continue left towards the 2nd oak tree. Finally reach the 3rd oak tree visible on the hill, strolling between the plots of vines.

Walk along the hill on your left. At the dirt road, turn right to join a paved road.

At the road, turn left. Go along the chartreuse on your right and continue to the end (follow the yellow markings).

At the next crossing, after the stable, turn right. Follow the sign “Liaison Boucle des Combes”.

Continue on the paved road and pass Ch. Rochebelle.

At the intersection, take the dead end on your right to reach the church of St-Laurent-des-Combes. On the church square, enjoy the view of the terraced hillside and the plain below. Go around the church on the right. Opposite the entrance to the cemetery, take the few stone steps that lead to a steeply sloping path in the woods. You will descend to a hillside (green markers).

Go around the stone embankment from below and walk along the vines.

Go around the plot, then turn left to join the paved road.

At the paved road, turn right. Walk along the Ch. de Candale and continue to the stop sign.

At the stop sign, take the path to the left (yellow-green marker).

You come out into a courtyard. At the paved road, turn left for 500 m, until you leave the village.

After the sign “exit from Saint-Laurent-des-Combes”, turn right (marked path). Follow the direction "Circuit Juridiction de Saint-Émilion par St Hippolyte".

Continue straight on the dirt road. At the bend, at the signposts, continue left, then turn right just before the bushes to reach the grove. On your left (yellow beacon), a path leads you to the De Ferrand caves.

After the caves, retrace your steps. Join the top of the hill. On your right stands the church of St-Hippolyte.

Take the road on the left, it will take you past Ch. de Ferrand and continue to the next crossing.

At the give way, turn right towards St-Christophe-des-Bardes.

After 500 m, turn left (follow the direction of Boucle de St-Christophe-des-Bardes–Circuit Juridiction de Saint-Émilion) and walk along the wall of Ch. Laroque on your left.

In front of the castle gate, take the path lined with pine trees on the right. (It is possible to shorten the route here by continuing straight on towards point 26: direction Barde-Haut).

At the end of the driveway, cross the D243 road and take the street almost opposite, direction Ch. Fombrauge.

At the end of the street, turn left. You arrive at Ch. Tonneret.

Go straight on the main road through the village. Walk to the roundabout.

The "communal schools" building stands in front of you. At the roundabout, take the street on the far left, in the direction of the "Laroque-Lapelleterie" sector and pass in front of the town hall.

At the "Laroque-Lapelleterie" sector, turn right towards Ch. Barde-Haut.

Pass in front of Ch. Barde-Haut and continue on the road (yellow markers).

At the crossroads, located after Ch. Barde-Haut, continue straight ahead. At the next intersection, take the one-way street on the left towards “Saint-Émilion Sud/Centre-Ville”. Ch. le Prieuré is on the left. At the fork, continue on the road that climbs to Porte Brunet.

Enter the village. Go down the rue de la porte Brunet to the rue Guadet, going up in front of the cloister of the Cordeliers and its magnificent view. At the pharmacy, turn left towards rue des Girondins. Continue straight until you reach the tourist office, your point of arrival.
