Pedestrian loop: At the gates of Saint-Emilion

From the Tourist Office, turn right to take the rue des écoles. At the end of the street, cross Porte Saint-Martin to reach Rue des Douves on your left (follow the sign "Boucle de la Madeleine"). Continue straight to the end of the street, along the old quarries.

Take the lane of the Porte Sainte-Marie in front of you. Continue to the entrance of Ch. Ausone, going up rue de la Madeleine. Enjoy a magnificent panorama over the village and the vineyards.

Go around the castle on the dirt road until you reach the road further on. Take the paved road to the stop sign.

At Ch. Belair-Monange, turn left towards “Libourne/La Réole”. Going down, prefer to take the dirt road to the right of the road which crosses the plots of vines, along the trees.

At the end of this path, go down the plateau on the left. At the bottom, turn left, staying along the vines, until you pass the first house.

At the intersection, take the first road on the right (sign in the direction of Ch. Petit Gravet). Continue straight ahead and cross the railway line until you reach the green “Boucle de la Madeleine” beacon on the right.

Enter the property. Leave the first buildings on your left and enter the courtyard by taking the path going to the right.

At the end of the path, turn left to walk along the railway line and behind the Union de Producteurs (Saint-Émilion cooperative cellar). Cross the small wooden bridge over the stream. You arrive in the backyard of the “Cellier des Gourmets” business. Take the paved exit.

Pass the railway tracks on the right and immediately turn left onto the path along the rails. Then take the first path that goes up on your right, at the yellow beacon.

At the top, take the first path on the left (not the one that goes up). At the end of the plot, go down a few meters to continue the path which will take you to a tarred road.

At road level, follow the “Boucle de la Madeleine” beacon to the right.

At the bend, continue straight on the dirt road. Turn right at the stone beacon (Ch. Quintus) towards the trees.

At the trees, continue on the dirt road to the left. Join the paved road. Go along the tower on your left.

Turn right towards the Gaudin cross at the end of the plot.

At the cross, turn left and continue on this road until the stop sign. You arrive opposite Ch. Beauséjour.

At the stop sign, turn right.

Take the 1st street on the left. Bypass the cemetery from below along Ch. Beauséjour to reach the church of Saint-Martin de Mazerat.

At the cemetery gate, Ch. Beauséjour Bécot stands in front of you. Turn right in the direction of “Boucle de la Madeleine” and Ch. Canon, between the low walls, to the stop sign. Turn left at Porte Saint-Martin. Complete the course by turning left. Walk along the Clos Fourtet which will take you to the Collegiate Church. Go past the Maison du Vin to reach the Tourist Office on your left.
