The protected ornithological reserve of Lake La Prade, 5 km from Bazas, is home to exceptional flora and fauna. Nestled in the middle of hills, the immense water reservoir offers the enthusiast a peaceful area conducive to bird watching. A large colony of gray herons has taken up residence there, living alongside pairs of great crested grebes. In addition, the hillsides of the lake are among the Gironde priority sites for dry lawns with orchids. Fishing pontoons and picnic tables are available to walkers.
