Departing from Soulac-sur-Mer, remarkable for its Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres basilica listed on UNESCO as part of the serial property of the roads to Santiago de Compostela and its villas from the 25,5th century, the XNUMX km route winds through the wetlands of the Médoc Regional Natural Park. By the oyster port of Talais with its white and blue fishermen's huts, passing the mattes, the name given to the land reclaimed from the Gironde estuary, drained and cultivated since the XNUMXth century, the path joins Saint-Vivien-de -Medoc.

Your itinerary

Step 1

The start of the route is at the foot of the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres, the place where Véronique was once buried. Do not hesitate to visit it, you will discover the relics of this saint. Leave by following the rue de la plage to the roundabout decorated with a cross, then the rue du Perrier de Larsan. At the next roundabout, go straight for 600 m to enter a wooded path. Follow it for 1 km, turn right then 130 m left and finally left 400 m.

Step 2

Take the direction of the campsite on your left and immediately turn right to bypass it. Follow this Formosa Passage and turn left at the third path after 900m. At the first intersection, follow left, carefully cross the D101. At 900 m, turn at the second path on your right. You arrive on the watercourse called the Capsey channel, located in the mattes of Paladon, marshes shaped by man. Go along it by turning left.

Step 3

Admire the high quality, protected and rare fauna and flora. After 1,6 km, take the path on your left and at the end, turn right. After carefully crossing the D1215, 300 m you will take the fork on the right.

Step 4

You cross the lock of the Talais channel, following, take the first path on the left along the cycle path. Follow it to the small port of Talais, cross it. Follow the channel for 1,5 km and bypass the oyster farm on the right.

Step 5

At 180 m, you turn left to reach the banks of the Gironde estuary. You are in the Cheyzin mattes. Lodge the shore for 4,8 km, on the opposite shore you can observe the Charente-Maritime. You arrive near a guinguette and fishermen's huts. You are in the small port of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc.

Step 6

Follow the road to the beach and turn left onto the road to the port. You enter the port and walk along the channel to exit via the Petite Canau road. Turn left, 170 m, turn right on Chemin de Cabanieux, then 1 km on the left. You follow the marsh of Gargasson. Turn off on the first path on your right and on the next on the left.

Step 7

At the give way, turn left to join the first path on the right which will take you directly to the finish point of this 25,5 km stage: the village of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc.
