This is a stage where heritage reigns supreme. Or rather, pope; we'll explain why. You enter via a cycle path on the original lands of Bertrand de Got, who became Pope Clement V. He was born in Villandraut and his tomb is in the collegiate church of Uzeste. He also left his mark on many of the area's historic castles.
Each village crossed celebrates Gascon culture and local traditions. They concentrate all the services for cycle tourists.
This is the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. The hosts who welcome you are truly passionate: grouped within the "Imaginaterres," they place solidarity, the environment, and Gascon identity at the heart of their offerings. As long as they also display the Accueil Vélo label, you're guaranteed an authentic and immersive experience.

Your itinerary
1
Uzest
From the track, turn left to reach the village. The village is known for its musical company Lubat de Gascogne which brings the evenings to life at the Théâtre Amusicien l'Estaminet. Good to know: the sports café has a pretty indoor terrace for a refreshing break. Not to be missed: the collegiate church with its magnificent stained glass windows and the tomb of Clement V in Carrara marble. Behind, the small garden with its washhouse on the edge of the stream is ideal for a picnic: tables are available.

2
Villandraut
This time, you turn right to go to the center. Restaurants and shops are at your disposal. The ruined castle is the site not to be missed: this 14th century fortress palace was built by Pope Clement V. Nice as a base in his birthplace! Know that there is a link between the river Le Ciron and the wines of Sauternes: without the waters of the latter, no sweet wine! We'll let you ask why when you meet people.

3
Saint-Leger-de-Balson
Welcome to the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park! This small village is full of charm. Don't hesitate to turn right to admire the church which is really worth the detour.

4
Saint-Symphorien
The railway network in the area has disappeared, which allows you to enjoy the cycle path that replaced the old track. Moreover, the workshops that repaired the trains still exist: you can see the building but it is not yet open to visitors. However, you can enjoy the Chalet Mauriac park: it was the holiday home of the famous writer. In the park, one of the works of the Contemporary Art Forest. We particularly love the Cercle des Ouvriers: an associative bar that offers meals and evenings. It is worth resigning yourself to for a stage full of joy!
