Welcome to Charente-Maritime with its pleasant sea breeze and its very special light.
You are now following the Canal-des-deux-Mer by bike, alternating between cycle paths and shared roads: if you are not careful, it will take you to Sète in the Mediterranean. Don't worry, we will guide you to continue your Tour de Gironde by bike.
You begin a slightly more sporty part of the route: the panoramas are magnificent but they are sometimes earned. In short, it climbs a little more! But the effort is not in vain because the villages on the banks of the Gironde Estuary with their small ports and spectacular cliffs have a crazy charm.

Your itinerary
1
Saint-Georges-de-Didonne
What a beach! Everything breathes a seaside holiday. There is no shortage of bars and restaurants for a little break. We inevitably think of the song: “there are the waves, the sun and the sea…”. We enjoy in complete peace.

2
Mescher-sur-Gironde
This former fishing village has been transformed into a seaside resort. Beautiful treasures are hidden there, such as the beach of Suzac, which is really worth a visit, or its small port. But it is above all the troglodyte caves that make its reputation: the caves of Régulus, ancient dwellings in the cliff, and those of Matata, still occupied today by tourist operators.
3
Talmont-sur-Gironde
This gem is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. How can you resist the charm of the Sainte-Radegonde church with its cemetery filled with hollyhocks? The remains of the ramparts bear witness to its rich historical past. Its picturesque port adds to this already complete picture.
4
Mortagne sur Gironde
The village is divided into an upper town and a lower town. Its quiet centre offers all services. The port is a popular place for walking, where you can stroll along the quays, watch the boats and enjoy the maritime atmosphere.

Points of interest

Suzac Beach
More hidden between the cliffs, its access is less direct but you feel a little privileged during a walk or a sea bath.
