The greenway is carried out on the towpath of the Canal de Garonne which will join the Canal du Midi in Toulouse. It is located, depending on the sections, on one or the other of the 2 banks. No car traffic, only the song of the birds accompanies you. The passage of the locks and the navigation of the boats make this route unique.

The start
Your starting point is at the first lock of the Garonne canal. After leaving Castets and its castle, you follow the canal in the shade of the majestic plane trees, walking below the villages, from lock to lock, in a landscape of unspoiled nature.

Step 2
Go to Bassane and its lock houses where you cross the road to Compostela which comes from Vézelay. You can see the very beautiful fortified mill of Piis which is converted into a stopover gite for pilgrims.

Step 3
You then arrive at the Fontet nautical stop (Km 10), a charming little port on the canal converted into a leisure area.

Further on, via Hure, you head towards Lot-et-Garonne and continue well beyond, to the rhythm of water coaches and tourist barges.
