The year 2025 marks the 500th anniversary of the Italian composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1594)

An undisputed master of Renaissance polyphony and an emblematic figure of the Counter-Reformation, he is often associated with a pure and rigorous musical aesthetic; in perfect harmony with the principles of the Council of Trent, which imposed a more refined style and a more intelligible polyphony. Considered by Romantic composers as the father of Western religious music, Palestrina left behind a monumental body of work.
The concert will resonate in the captivating setting of the spectacular monolithic church of Saint-Emilion.
