Chateau Haut-Bergeron

About 40 km south-east of Bordeaux and 10 km from Langon, stop off in the Sauternes region, where Château Haut-Bergeron is one of the oldest strongholds. The Lamothe family has been present there for five generations. Today, Patrick and his brother Hervé have taken up the torch. Adjoining its illustrious neighbor Yquem, Château Haut-Bergeron produces powerful Sauternes, some vintages of which are highly appreciated by connoisseurs.
During the visit to the cellars, you learn what pruning is and know everything about botrytis cinerea, this fungus without which Sauternes would not exist. As tradition dictates, your visit ends with a commented tasting of the famous nectar. If you have time left, why not take the opportunity to visit, not far from there in Saint-Maixant, the house of the great writer François Mauriac, Malagar.
