Built on a terrace overlooking the Garonne, Rions (registered site), a very old city, dates back to Gallo-Roman times. Its development dates mainly from the Middle Ages, of which it retains many monuments and which make it its pride. The city is surrounded by powerful ramparts built in the XNUMXth century: the Lhyan gate, the Despujols and Guet towers, then the citadel, whose keep dominates the old port and the plain of the Garonne, are the main vestiges. Within this perimeter, walking through the old streets, one discovers the Saint-Seurin church, its Romanesque chevet and its remarkable interior decoration, the old merchants' house, the XNUMXth century pea market. Old houses line these streets such as the Bruhat house or the Clos des Remparts. We will fall under the charm of the small places Cazeaux-Cazalet or Jarry, to discover during a peaceful walk.
