Two of the five mills on the Butte de Calon have been restored. These tower mills, with slender cylindrical shafts, are built of fine stone and rubble. Inside there is a staircase giving access to the millstone chamber. The motor shaft, carrying the wings and the large spinning wheel, introduces the rotational movement inside which activates the wings. To function, the wings with bars and cotrets attached to the end of the motor shaft are covered with canvas. In addition, they are inclined to obtain better wind grip. From the dormer window located on the rear part of the conical roof comes a long oak pole attached to the frame which descends to the ground; it is the drawbar which is used to turn the roof to put the wings in the wind in its direction and facing it. One of the restored mills grinds grain as in the old days.
